calm focus energy ease creativity relaxation with floating.

Floating is about everything that you won’t be doing.

You won’t be fighting gravity. 1200 pounds of epsom salt in the water takes care of that while you lie on your back. The water is kept at 93.5 degrees. This is skin-receptor neutral, which means you lose track of where your body ends and the water begins. Your ears stay just below the water, and the tanks are insulated against sound. Noise from the outside doesn’t reach you.

After you shut the door, you float in total darkness.

For an hour and a half the outside world is gone, and amazing things happen.

It turns out that when you’re not fighting gravity or constantly taking in information your body has a lot of extra resources at its disposal. Your mind is free to mull things over without distraction, your brain pumps out dopamine and endorphins, and your body gets to rest, de-stress, and heal. It’s likely to be the most relaxing thing you’ve ever experienced.

WOW!!! What a great experience. I cannot say enough good about my first float and I am so thankful to FINALLY have a place to shut everything off. I have still continued to feel the benefits of my session, even weeks after just one time!!

All float sessions are 90 minutes in length.

We recommend 3 floats within 30 days to experience the full benefits. Plus, the longer you float, the better the experience. All floats are 90 minutes to provide ample time for you to achieve and maintain the Theta brainwaves.

Why float therapy works

Also known as REST (Reduced Environmental Stimulus Therapy). Three key components — epsom salt, sensory deprivation, and gravity reduction — work together to create the unparalleled results and benefits of floatation therapy.

Epsom Salt

The story of Epsom salt is an old one, as is the unspoken power of water. It is well known that we are mostly made of water, our brain is 80% water; point being, water is part of who we are, how we survive and how we heal. Epsom salt is also no regular salt. It is the culmination of two of the most important minerals in our body, and sadly amongst the most deficient – Magnesium and Sulfur.

Learn more about the benefits of magnesium and sulfur below.

Stimulation Reduction

Previously known as Sensory Deprivation, Stimulation Reduction is the second key component of Floatation Therapy. What we see, what we hear, what we smell, what we touch all take up neurological resources to determine appropriate response, be that no action, fight or flight. Stimulation Reduction is something all together different. Floating in skin temperature dense Epsom salt water in pitch darkness & silence, your mind finally enters deep restorative rest. Your brain enters the powerful zone of Theta Brain Waves a deep meditative state, where self “reprogramming”, super-learning and vivid visualization can be used to enhance and improve a skill, break an addition or access the heights of your creativity. It is here that stress and anxiety begins to disappear, reducing the levels of associated neurochemicals (adrenaline, cortisol & ACTH) responsible for many of the stress related illnesses & conditions.

Gravity Reduction

Gravity Reduction is the third unique aspect of Floatation Therapy. 80-90% of your neural activity is engaged in a balancing/counter-balancing dance with gravity. Floating in the buoyant Epsom salt water completely supports your body, reducing the impact of gravity by 80% and freeing up 80% of mental resources for other much needed improvements. Back pain, neck pain and other gravity induced aches (including the physical aches experienced during pregnancy) begin to disappear, leaving you feeling brand new again. Speaking of brand new, gravity is a well known contributor to physical aging and degeneration. Need we say more?

Magnesium

Magnesium per current studies, is present in 3,751 protein binding sites in our body as well as in 300 different enzymes. Its responsibilities include creating energy molecules, forming bones and teeth, relaxing blood vessels, regulating blood pressure, helping prevent cardiac arrest, heart attack and stroke, helping the heart muscles, bowel functions, regulating blood sugar levels. Thus far, over 100 health benefits have been ascribed to magnesium, amongst them being therapeutic benefits for Fibromyalgia, Atrial Fibrillation, Type 2 Diabetes, Premenstrual Syndrome, Cardiovascular Disease, Migraine, Aging, Antioxidant Synthesis, Arthritis, Osteoporoses, Asthma, Migraines, Peptic Ulcers, Digestion Problems. A few key points to note include:

  • DNA synthesis is dependant on the rate of protein synthesis which is regulated by the concentration of intracellular ionic magnesium. As such, DNA & protein synthesis require magnesium to form.
  • 80% of our metabolism is dependant on magnesium
  • For every molecule of glucose you need to metabolize, you need 28 molecules of magnesium. The average american consumes 220-260lb of sugar a year! This drains the body & brain of magnesium. Non-sugar artificial sweeteners are even worse, as they are neurotoxins.

Sulfur

Sulfur the other member of this happy union, is the third most abundant mineral in our body. Though about half of its capacity is devoted to muscles, skin and bones, it plays other essential roles, including bonding proteins, enzymes, contributing to energy production, helping insulin function, detoxification, joint health, fighting fatigue, depression, physical and psychological stress, degenerative diseases, reducing chronic pain, improving cellular intake of nutrients, preventing cancer, reducing/eliminating muscle soreness, alleviating allergies, anti-parasitic, improving lung function, preventing neurological disease, preventing diabetes, increasing strength and endurance. A few key points to note include:

  • Sulfate is required for formation of proteins in joints; those suffering with rheumatoid arthritis have low levels of sulfate in plasma and synovial fluid .
  • Sulfate is essential in forming the mucin proteins which line the gut walls. Those suffering with irritable bowel disease exhibit low plasma sulfate.
  • Sulfate is necessary for formation of brain tissue. Reduced sulfation can lead to faulty neuronal connections and later dysfunction.
  • Sulfation is key in detoxifying drugs and environmental contaminants.
  • Sulfate is not easily absorbed across the gut wall. Recent research has shown that it can be absorbed across the skin.

If you're remotely interested in Floating, this is a great place for your first experience. After an hour and a half, my skin was softer than it had ever been, and I felt more relaxed than I had in a long while.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are the tanks kept clean?

The highly sterile salt water is fully filtered six times between each float and is sanitized with UV Advanced Oxidization.

Three critical factors of a great float experience are the quality of the water, the quality of the Epsom Salt & the quality of the air

Here are some key points to note:
    • Filtered Water Source – To begin with a clean water source, we fill our rooms only with filtered water run through a 2 phase filtration system that removes harmful synthetic chemicals and chlorine present in all city waters.
    • Highest Grade Epsom Salt – We use USP Grade Epsom Salt, which is considered to be the cleanest and highest in quality pharmaceutical grade Epsom salt, per USP (United States Pharmacopeia Convention) standards. Because your skin regulates the absorption of Magnesium and Sulfate from the Epsom salt, the quality of these minerals is critical.
    • Powerful Filtration – Starting out with a good source of water, our next priority is the maintenance of the quality between floats. There are several factors that contribute to thorough cleaning of our water and they are as follows:
      • ~High Salt Effect – 40% Epsom salt solution of our tanks kills almost all pathogenic organisms. Any that survive are eliminated through the next two stages of filtration and disinfection – particle filtration & Advanced UV Oxidization.
      • ~NSF certified 10 micron particle filter – Removes all particulates (an average grain of beach sand is 1,000 microns!) .
      • ~Advanced UV Oxidization – A combination of strong UV light and hydrogen peroxide, which destroys any remaining contaminants and effectively disinfects the water.
      • As a safer alternative to Ozone (a chemical gas) in enclosed environments, hydrogen peroxide, in conjunction with UV, is steadily becoming the preferred method of filtration for water treatment facilities across the world, including our neighboring city of Orange County, which is using this system to turn waste water into drinkable water city wide.
      • ~ Skimmer – Collects and removes excess oils from the water.
      • ~ Air Circulation – Ensures that CO2 levels never exceed 1000 ppm. Ours float rooms register at 700ppm, which is exceptional as far as float tanks go.
  • Four Complete Filtration Cycles – Our water runs through 4 complete cycles of filtration between each float, passing through each of the processes listed above. We also conduct regular testing of our waters to ensure the effectiveness of our filtration.

What if I’m claustrophobic?

People with claustrophobia consistently report no problems with floating. Our float rooms are very spacious, as far as float rooms go. They are 5’W x 8’L x 7’H (larger than many bathrooms). Besides that, while floating, you feel more like floating in outer space than in a room. You’re always in control of your environment, and you can get out anytime.

Can I drown if I fall asleep?

Nope. Some people fall asleep, but the water is so buoyant you stay afloat. The worst that can happen is getting woken up by a bit of salt water in your eyes.

Do I need to bring anything?

Nope, just yourself. If you wear contact lenses, you should bring a case for them. Towels, earplugs, and everything else you need are provided.

Can I bring a friend?

Absolutely. We have three tanks. You can’t float together in the same tank, but you can book floats at the same time.

What is Floatation-REST?

Reduced Environmental Stimulation Therapy, previously known as sensory deprivation, is achieved through floating in darkness.

Why are float sessions all 90 minutes?

All floats are 90 minutes to provide ample time for you to achieve and maintain the Theta brainwave state.

Is there anything I need to do before I float?

We require that all floaters shower before entering the tank. Our showers are quite an experience, so this is more of a perk than a chore. We use organic shampoos, filtered water AND wash our towel with organic detergents. After your shower, you put on your ear plugs and enter your session.

Do I need a bathing suit?

Floating naked is the best way to float, but if you’d prefer to float in a bathing suit, we won’t stop you.

Can more than one person float in a tank at a time?

One person per tank please. Though double wide tanks do exist, we think it takes away from the experience. Floating is one of those few times where more is not merrier.

Can I float if I color my hair?

We recommending allowing 2 weeks after coloring you hair to float. If you use hair straightening treatments with keratin, floating is not recommended, as the salt will disrupt the hair treatment.

Are your float rooms ADA accessible?

Yes, our Terra room (Room 3) is ADA accessible.

Don't wait any longer, experience the benefits of floating for yourself

Our team will be there to answer any further questions and walk you through your first float experience to ensure it exceeds your expectations.
